Avian-X vs Dakota Decoys, Compared on the Spec Sheet

What each maker actually publishes

Avian-X's Shipping & Returns page states that GSM Outdoors products carry a warranty against manufacturing defects, and directs buyers to their individual product page for a specific time frame, but the Fusion Mallards and AXP Sentry-Walker product pages state no time frame at all. Dakota's decoy warranty page states that obvious workmanship defects are replaced or refunded within the first 30 days of purchase. Thirty days is short next to the full year that Final Approach, Lucky Duck and Rig'Em Right publish elsewhere on this site, but it is at least a stated number, which is the gap driving this comparison.

Mallards head-to-head

Avian-X's Topflight Fusion Mallards put every decoy in the six-pack in a different posture on a weight-forward swim keel, which is a genuine realism strength; the product page states no per-decoy weight or size, though. Dakota's X-Treme Flocked Head Packable Mallard Floaters publish a 17-inch length and a 9-pound total weight for the six-pack, with flocked drake heads and a soft, collapsible EVA body built for a walk-in hunt. If you plan the walk before you plan the postures, Dakota gives you a number to plan around; Avian-X doesn't.

Geese head-to-head

Avian-X's AXP Honker Sentry-Walker Pack ships with 6 retractable steel bases included and mixes walker, sentry and relaxed postures, but again states no weight or dimensions. Dakota's Signature Series Uprights are one-piece EVA bodies with flocked heads on Wind Walker motion bases, and Dakota sells replacement bases separately if one breaks. Neither maker publishes a per-decoy weight for these goose packs, but Dakota's stated 30-day guarantee and available replacement parts still put more in writing than Avian-X does here.

The same published-information gap shows up in two more pairs we don't table above: Avian-X's Topflight Blue Bills and Dakota's X-Treme Bluebills both skip a published weight and keel spec, and Avian-X sells no snow goose decoy that's currently confirmed on Amazon, while Dakota sells both a snow sock and a full-body snow decoy. Warranty and parts

Both makers sell replacement parts: Avian-X replaces broken or missing parts such as heads and clips through customer service on a case-by-case basis, per its FAQ, and Dakota sells replacement bases outright for its Signature Series and snow goose lines. Neither approaches the full-year warranties published by Final Approach, Lucky Duck or Rig'Em Right elsewhere in this hub.
